APF Mill Hill Mission Thank You

Fr Brian Oswald MHM thanks you all for the warmth of your welcome last weekend. He was impressed by the life of the parish. Over 50 people signed up to take home a red box as part of their support for the mission of the church. Fr Terry adds: I take this opportunity to thank Anthony and Lin Schofield who look after the administraton and collection of the boxes. I also thank Pat Gleason who looked after the boxes for many years.

First Holy Communion 2018

What a splendid celebration it was. Thanks on behalf of the parish to all who worked so hard to make it a special day: Sandra and the catechists, Winnie, Liz and the musicians and singers, Teresa and Marie-Jeanne the flower arrangers, the sacristy team, the servers and many others. We were blessed by your hard work and dedication.

Special Altar Server Mass

Our team of altar servers has grown again this year, and we look forward to Sunday 10th June, when Father Terry will give a special blessing to all our servers during 10 am Mass. Could all altar servers please vest before Mass and sit in the first two rows.

Food Bank

We thank the anonymous donor of the Tesco gift card which will be used to buy necessary food for the ongoing help offered by the food bank to those who are in need. Several times over the last few weeks the food bank has helped over 50 people and supplies are running low. If you could bring in a tin next weekend it would be very helpful. What is most needed is: tins of meat or fish; long-life milk; sugar; cereals; tinned soups; and pot noodles (some of those who come have no cooking facilities). There is usually enough beans and pasta.

Pope Francis has invited us all to “Share the Journey” with refugees.

You are invited to participate in CAFOD’s 'Share the Journey' campaign as an act of solidarity with refugees. This includes a prayerful walk which is taking place around the London Outer Orbital Path (the LOOP) during May and June. The aim of the campaign is to draw attention to the plight of refugees and send a message to world leaders that ambitious new agreements must be made. Further information is available at https://cafod.org.uk/Campaign/Share-the-Journey If you are interested in joining the walk for any of the 24 stages, please emailoliasah-peace@yahoo.co.uk or ring the CAFOD office on 020 8449 6970.

Parish Safeguarding Representative

For 20 years Maureen Stell has been our Parish Safeguarding Representative. She will step down soon and we are looking for someone to replace her. Could it be you? This rewarding role requires a commitment to ensuring that the National Safeguarding policies and procedures, adopted by the Diocese of Westminster, are carried out. You do not need to have a background in this field as all new representatives are given Induction Training and continuous support from the diocesan Safeguarding Team and Fr Terry. The next training day is Thursday 13th September 2018 at Vaughan House, Victoria. The role requires a willingness to process papers relating to DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance. Strict confidentiality would also be required.
