SS Peter and Paul, 29th June 2021

Confessions:

Fr Peter writes: “Confessions return to Saturday at 4:30pm (before Mass) and 5:30pm (after Mass).”

Offertory Collection

Fr Peter writes: “The offertory collection in church for last weekend was- £638.35: All contributions are greatly received, and I am very grateful for your continued support at this difficult time. Please do not forget, that arranging a standing order is the easiest way to support St Mary’s. Details are on the back of the newsletter.

Streamed Masses for this week:

The 10 am Mass on Sunday will be streamed for those shielding at home. You can access the streaming service via www.saintmarys.online

Change of Mass Times:

Fr Peter writes: “Due to extension of lockdown safeguards, I will not change the Mass schedule to pre-pandemic times until after 19th July.”

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament:

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will now be every Saturday from 4:30pm to 5pm.

The Wall:

Fr Peter writes: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the renovation of the wall has been postponed while surveyors take another look at the weight of earth and soil separating the car park and the High Road. Theinspection will clarify if the agreed method of repair is the only solution to strengthen the wall. I know you have so much to pray for, but I would appreciate if you could keep me, the surveyors and the wall in your prayers. Sadly, the last few weeks have revealed that this project is not as straightforward as it looks.”

Day For Life – Second Collection This Weekend

Fr Peter writes: “After all Masses this weekend, there will be the opportunity to donate to the annual “Day for Life” appeal. This year’s theme focuses on assisted suicide and respect owed to life. Presently there is a Private Members Bill in the House of Lords on so-called ‘Assisted Dying’. In the near future I would like to organise a speaker or two to talk with us about this important issue. The Day for Life website is https://www.dayforlife.org/. Thank you.”

Patrick:

Fr Peter writes: “This week I will be joined by Patrick, a seminarian from the Beda College in Rome. Patrick will be with us for a month and will live at St Mary’s. I hope you get a chance to say hello and welcome him to the parish.

Home Visits:

Fr Peter writes: “I now have a fair idea who our housebound parishioners are. If I have not made a visit and you would like to receive Holy Communion please give me a call at the presbytery number – 0208 883-4234. As recommended by Public Health England, I take a Covid lateral free test every three days, and will only visit homes if I am wearing a mask.”

The Outside:

Fr Peter writes: “I want to dismantle and remove the red “St Mary’s” sign on the grass bank overlooking the high road. It leans a little menacingly over the wall and while it is not a risk, it needs to be re-painted and repaired. I will need a strong set of volunteers with shovels to help dig out the sign. If you would like to help, please send an email so I can put a time together with refreshments.”
