Solemnity of the Assumption 15th August

This beautiful feast is a holy day of obligation. We will have Mass for the solemnity on Tuesday 15th August at 10 am and 7.30 pm.

Reader and Minister Rotas for the summer

Our usual rota are suspended for the height of the summer due to the number of people away. We therefore appeal to readers and ministers who know they will be around to go to the sacristy and sign up for any of the five weekends listed.

Barnet Seniors’ Insider Magazine

At the back of the church, we have free copies of the latest edition of Barnet Seniors’ Insider magazine. Please do feel free to take one home with you.

Young People’s Summer Outing

We look forward to an afternoon of climbing at The Castle Climbing Centre on Monday, 31st July. Please note that booking is now closed.

Ramp and lawn

The new ramp is now open! It provides smooth and easy access to the main door of the parish centre. However, until railings are installed we still need to ask children not to play on the lawn. We ask for and very much appreciate parents’ cooperation in this matter. Many thanks.

Prison volunteers sought

Pact, the Catholic charity for prisoners and their families (www.prisonadvice.org.uk) is offering free training and support for parishioners interested in volunteering with them in prisons or in the local community. All inquiries welcome. To find out more contact ParishAction@prisonadvice.org.uk

Christian Meditation Group

The group meets in Nazareth House, 162 East End Road, every Tuesday morning at 10.30 am – after the 10 am Mass.

Marriage Care volunteers needed

Marriage Care is a Catholic organisation providing marriage preparation and relationship counselling services through 50 centres across England and Wales. Our centre for Barnet and Enfield needs Marriage Preparation Course Facilitators to present and facilitate marriage preparation courses to small groups of engaged couples (training is provided) and an Administrator to help with the smooth running of the centres services. We are also in need of qualified Relationship Counsellors to deliver relationship counselling. New Foundation Degree for Catholics working in Healthcare and those seeking to be Chaplains

Father Peter Scott, Cardinal’s Advisor for Healthcare Chaplains, Westminster Diocese writes: Starting in October, St Mary’s University Twickenham is pleased to offer a new foundation degree in Healthcare Ethics, Theology and Care. This is a part time two year programme for those seeking to be hospital chaplains and for people working in healthcare settings, from care homes, to hospices and hospitals. Lectures and seminars take place at one evening a week and additional lectures and resources are available online. Tree Works

Parishioners will be disappointed to know that we have been advised by tree care specialists that the chestnut tree in the car park must come down. It is decayed by a fungus infestation.

Golders Green Witness against Hate

An officer of the Metropolitan Police is organising an act of witness against hate crime on Wednesday 23rd August at 10 am adjacent to Golders Green bus station. He is hoping that every place of worship in the area will be represented, regardless of faith. There will be a sign saying No To Hate Crime. Media will be invited. Fr Terry cannot go.
