Christmas Fair

So far, the Christmas Fair has raised £3858.87. There is still time to buy raffle tickets – the draw will be held after Mass on Sunday. There are many people to thank, particularly Helen who co-ordinated the organising team, and Nicola who stepped into the breach and synchronized the day. Fr Christmas was thrilled with the event too!

Readers for Christmas:

Those who read at Mass are invited to add their names to the Christmas rota in the Church if they would like to read at Mass over the yuletide season.

Advent Reconciliation Service.

Our parish advent reconciliation service will be on Tuesday at 7:30pm. There should be a few priests to hear confessions and help us declutter our souls to welcome Christ at Christmas.

Safeguarding Notice:

Please be aware that behind the hall there is some “anti-Japanese knotweed treatment” – so children, adults and pets(!!) must avoid this area at all costs.

CRISIS Carol Singing:

It has been great having parishioners taking part each year in the carol-singing at the opening of the Crisis Centre at Westminster Kingsway College in Grays Inn Road

This year it is 23rd Dec 5-6pm -The more the merrier and you don’t need to be an experienced singer but you will need to register due to security Details from Helen Tierney on tierneyhelen63@gmail.com

New Year’s Eve 2019

Fr Peter writes: “For the past few years I have tried to celebrate a New Year’s Eve Mass in honour of Our Lady at midnight on 31st December. I see it as a way of beginning the New Year in the presence of Christ, who I know will be accompanying us through 2020. So on New Year’s Eve I will be celebrating a quiet informal Mass in the Church beginning at Midnight – and you are most welcome to join me.”

Red Boxes

Please note that the Missio Red Boxes are available for collection. Please speak to the ladies in the Sacristy.

Lego Competition!

Build the Bible in Bricks Lego Competition. Looking for something to do over the Christmas holidays? Why not enter our Lego competition, simply choose a favourite Bible story and then build it in Lego. Bring your creations along to the Parish Hall on Sunday 5th January for judging. If you don’t have any Lego at home come along to teas and coffees after the 10am Mass over the next few weeks and you can use some of ours, you can’t take it home but we can keep it safe for you until judging day.

Altar Server/Incenced Secret Santa:

If you’d like to take part in our annual Secret Santa for Altar Servers and the Incensed group, please email finchleyeastcat@rcdow.org.uk by Monday 16th December. Names will then be sent out with the usual rules applying: buy your person a present at a local charity shop for around £2, wrap and put the recipients name on it, put your gift in the box in the porch by Sunday 22nd December.

Christmas Eve Children’s Mass:

Our First Communion group will be acting out the Nativity story for us at the 6pm Christmas Eve Mass. All children of the Parish are invited to come along, dressed as angels or shepherds.

Flowers & Decorations for Christmas:

If you would like to contribute towards flowers and decorations for the Church, please put your donation in an envelope marked “flowers” and hand in to the presbytery.

The God who Speaks – Bible Prayer…

As from last weekend, hold your bibles and pray…

“Blessed be your name, O Lord our God, You are the fount and source of every blessing. You have revealed yourself to your human creation in many and diverse ways. Our memory of your revelation is maintained and reverenced in the scriptures that we hold in our hands. Look with delight upon us today as we renew our commitment to read and remember You in the stories of our salvation. Help us to absorb its wisdom and live its inspired truth, through Christ our Lord.”
