JULIUS LIPNER RIP
Julius Lipner died peacefully on Friday at the North London Hospice, after courageously living
with cancer for the past four years. May he rest in peace. For those who may not have known
Julius personally, many will remember him as the tall, dark-haired man in his forties who ran the tombola stall at the Christmas Fete, always with warmth, enthusiasm, and kindness.
Julius was also a familiar face at the 10am Sunday Mass, where he regularly read. His wife,
Sandra, previously served as the parish’s catechetical co-ordinator before Holly (during Fr Terry's time). They have two teenage sons. Let us keep them all in our prayers.
BISHOP OSÓRIO CITORA AFONSO RIP
Some of you will remember Bishop Osorio, known to us then as Father Osorio, who spent several months at St Mary’s a number of years ago. He came to East Finchley to improve his English, and many parishioners welcomed him into their homes. He was deeply loved and admired by all who met him. Bishop Osorio was a Consolata Missionary and later the Bishop of the Diocese of Quelimane. In April 2026, he was appointed interim Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Beira in Mozambique. On 6 June, he was murdered — most likely for speaking out against injustice. His death is a profound loss, but his witness stands as that of a true martyr of the Church. May he rest in peace.

CONFIRMATION MASS
This year’s Confirmation Mass will be at 5pm on Saturday 20th June. There will be 23 young
adults being confirmed. Please keep them and their families in your prayers.
CHILDREN’S MASS LIBRARY
We are hoping to revive our Children’s Mass Library — a small collection of Catholic picture books that young children can enjoy quietly during Mass, especially if they are not yet able to follow the full liturgy. If you have any
Catholic picture books, Bible storybooks, or Lives of the Saints suitable for young children — and in good condition (no torn pages or scribbles) — we would be very grateful to receive them. Please leave any donations on the
tables at the back of the church, and we will collect and display them for families to use.
DAMAGE TO CHURCH CAR PARK RAILINGS
We are trying to identify the owner of the car that collided with the car-park driveway railings after last Sunday’s 10am Mass. Before Fr Peter reviews the CCTV footage and reports the incident to the police, he would be very grateful if the driver could come forward so that the damage can be discussed and a way forward agreed together. If you have any information, please speak to Fr Peter as soon as possible.
