LENT ACTIVITIES AT ST MARY’S
“FAITH SHARING GROUP” – Every Monday at 7:30pm in the Small Hall.
“Less of Me, More of Him: A Lenten Journey to Surrender” is a 6-week group journey where we will walk through the Stations of the Cross together, not simply to remember what Jesus endured, but to encounter who He is. As we reflect and surrender week by week, we will rediscover our identity in Christ and learn what it means to live truly rooted in Him. This group is led by Amanda Malandrino.
STATIONS OF THE CROSS – These will take place every Friday during Lent at 10:30am. Additional dates will be arranged for those who are unable to attend in the morning; parishioners are invited to let Fr Peter know if they would be interested in an alternative time.
CONFESSIONS – Throughout Lent (beginning next weekend), Confessions will be available every Saturday from 10am to 11am and again from 4:30pm to 5pm. During these times, there will also be adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
POPE LEO XIV’S MESSAGE OF PEACE IN THE ONGOING MIDDLE EAST CONFLICT
A week ago, at last Sunday’s Angelus, Pope Leo XIV expressed “deep concern” over the situation in the Middle East and Iran.
“Stability and peace are not built with mutual threats, nor with weapons, which sow destruction, pain, and death, but only through a reasonable, authentic, and responsible dialogue,” he said.
The Pope warned of an immense tragedy if violence escalates out of control.
“Faced with the possibility of a tragedy of enormous proportions,” he said, “I address to the parties involved a heartfelt appeal to assume the moral responsibility to stop the spiral of violence before it becomes an irreparable abyss!”
Pope Leo prayed that nations may return to dialogue in order to seek peace.
“May diplomacy recover its role and may the good of peoples be promoted, peoples who long for peaceful coexistence founded on justice,” he said. “And let us continue to pray for peace.”
