THANK YOU FOR A STEAMING SUCCESS! – CHRISTMAS BOILER FETE:
Our Christmas Boiler Fete was truly firing on all cylinders! The warmth of community spirit kept the parish pressure high and the joy bubbling over.
A huge thank you to Helen and her hardworking team, who kept everything stoked and running smoothly. Special thanks also go to Father Christmas, who brought plenty of festive sparks, and to the pupils and staff of Bishop Douglass High School whose presence we all loved!
Of course, there are simply too many people to mention by name—every volunteer, every attendee, every generous supporter helped keep the flame alive.
Together, you ensured that our parish boiler didn’t just tick over, but positively glowed with joy this Christmas season.
Thank you all for helping turn up the heat on the “St Mary’s Church Boiler Appeal.”
DON’T FORGET CONFESSIONS EVERY SATURDAY AT 10AM TO 10:30AM.
The church is open for Confessions (the Sacrament of Reconciliation) every Saturday morning at 10:00 AM and again before the evening Mass at 4:30 PM. As Advent begins, take this opportunity to prepare your heart. Give yourself the gift of peace, forgiveness, and renewal through this beautiful sacrament. Let Christ’s mercy be the starting point of your journey toward Christmas.
ALTAR SERVERS MEETING
The next Meeting for all Altar Servers (new & old, including boilers) will be 11am in the church on Saturday 13th December. We will practice for Christmas!
A THRILL OF HOPE
As Advent begins, our parish—together with the Community of Sant ’Egidio—launches a special initiative: “A Thrill of Hope”, led by our Confirmation students & Secondary School Aged Pupils.
This campaign invites us to bring hope and joy to those in need, inspired by Christ the King who forgives, loves, and serves selflessly.
How Students and Pupils Take Part
The Christmas Giving Tree will be in church at all Masses, with cards listing affordable gifts or essentials for those less fortunate. Students are asked to take a card, purchase the item, and return it under the tree in its original bag (not wrapped).
Then come and wrap the presents on Thursday, December 18th at 7:30 PM (small hall)
A Christmas Party with lunch and the giving out of presents will take place on Sunday, December 21st after the 11am Mass. Students and pupils host lunch (which will be provided) and give out the presents!
Through these acts of service, our young people will discover the joy of giving and help bring Christ’s light to those in need.
We encourage all families to support their children in this campaign, so together we can make this Christmas truly meaningful.
NAZARETH HOUSE CAROL SERVICE
Members of St Mary's choir will be singing at the Nazareth House carol service today Sun 7th at 3pm. This is a short and informal service of music and readings and St Mary's parishioners are very welcome.
