THE ASCENSION OF THE LORD
Thursday 29th May is The Ascension of the Lord – a Holy Day of Obligation. There will be two Masses – 10 am and 7.30 pm.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION MASSES
A reminder that Sunday 1st June is our First Holy Communion Sunday. This has more impact on the 12 noon Mass as more families have chosen this time for their children to make their First Communions. A much smaller number will celebrate their First Holy Communions at the 10 am Mass – which means less impact on those who normally attend St Mary’s at this time. Let us keep these children, their families and their catechists in our prayers as we near this important weekend.
SUNDAY MASS TIMES IN AUGUST
Due to smaller congregations in August, Sunday Mass times will change to: Saturday 5pm, Sunday 8:30am and 11am.
This “temporary August change” will begin Saturday 2nd August and finish Sunday 24th August. Normal schedule will resume on Sunday 31st August.
(RE-STARTING OUR) SUPPORT FOR LOCAL REFUGEES: EGGS PLEASE
It is still Easter so with Easter Eggs in mind…. please help us support the local drop-in centre for destitute refugees and asylum seekers by bringing donations of 6 or more hard-boiled eggs to church on Sunday 8 June. As a result, Fr Peter will have the honour of confirming our young people. To ensure the candidates are well-prepared, a rehearsal will be held on Thursday, 5th June at 8:00pm in the church. JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS – SHARE YOUR SPECIAL MILESTONE!
As we prepare to celebrate priestly ordination jubilees in this Jubilee Year, you might have a jubilee of your own to mark!
If 2025 is a special year for you—whether you’re celebrating a milestone wedding anniversary (25th, 30th, 35th, 40th, etc.) or an important birthday (10th, 20th, 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th, etc.)—please let Fr Peter know.
All these special occasions will be honoured at our Jubilee Mass on Sunday, 29th June at 11:00am.
