Offertory Collection

Fr Peter writes: “The offertory collection is as follows: week ending Sunday 23rd May 2021 - £ 625.74 Parish Offertory by Bank Transfer for April 2021: £335.00. Apologies as this was not included in last week’s newsletter.

All contributions are greatly received, and I am very grateful for your continued support at this difficult time. Please do not forget, that arranging a standing order is the easiest way to support St Mary’s. Details are on the back of the newsletter.

Streamed Masses for this week:

The 10 am Mass on Sunday will be streamed for those shielding at home. You can access the streaming service via www.saintmarys.online

Thomas O’Connor RIP

Thomas O Connor’s Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St Mary’s on Wednesday 2nd June at 10am. Due to Covid regulations only Thomas’s family and friends will be in attendance. Let us keep Thomas and his family in our prayers.

Some Lockdown News:

As of last week 30 guests are now allowed at Baptisms and Weddings. St Mary’s is also permitted to allow 60 people to attend a funeral in church (in keeping with our covid social distancing capacity). After June 21st, all Masses at St Mary’s will return to their pre-pandemic times.

Still uncertain about returning to Church?

Fr Peter writes: “As vaccines roll out you might feel this is the right time to return to St Mary’s for Mass. Do not worry if you are anxious your children will make a noise. I have asbestos ears and I am never distracted by children having a charismatic moment. More importantly, St Mary’s is your home, and I would be delighted to see you and please remember God just wants to feed you. The 8:30am Mass on Sunday has a few spaces spare as does the 11:30am, so come along and let God listen to your burdens and nourish you with grace and strength.”

RCIA at St Mary’s

Are you or someone you know curious about what is involved in becoming a Catholic? Are you interested in joining the Catholic Church? Were you baptised but never confirmed and now feel you would like to complete your formation? St Mary’s will shortly be re-starting the RCIA group and you would be very welcome to join us. For more information please contact Holly finchleyeastcat@rcdow.org.uk

Confessions:

Fr Peter writes: “Confessions return to Saturday at 4:30pm (before Mass) and 5:30pm (after Mass).”

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament:

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will now be every Saturday from 4:30pm to 5pm.

The Missalettes:

The paper Sunday Missalettes with readings and responses have returned and are available next to the offertory basket as you come into church. Only take a copy if you are going to take it home. Please do not leave behind the copy you have used in church.

Fr Mehall Lowry:

Fr Peter writes: “Some excellent joyful news! Fr Mehall is to be made a Canon by Cardinal Nicholls. Fr Mehall was ordained at St Mary’s in 1991 and is parish priest of St Monica’s in Palmers Green. Canon’s act as advisors to the Cardinal. More details to follow.

Some more excellent news…

Fr Peter writes: “Anna Maughan & Maureen Stell who diligently manage, organise and volunteer at Finchley Foodbank have been nominated for a Westminster Diocese Caritas Award. Their nomination is for “Parish Social Outreach”. They will join other nominees for a champagne zoom (!!!) on Wednesday to find out if they have won. However….to be nominated is a major achievement in itself.”

Something is missing?

Fr Peter writes: As you come into church you will notice that the two black noticeboards are missing from the entrance steps. These were letting in rain water and condensation. They have been replaced with a new board beneath one of the entrance lanterns.

“My past to your mercy, my present to your love and my future to your providence.”

St Padre Pio
