The offertory collection for week ending 29th January £789.82. Many thanks. Please do not forget, that arranging a standing order is the easiest way to support St Mary’s

Jenifer Danvers:

Sadly, Jenifer died a few weeks ago and her funeral will take place on Monday at 4pm in Marylebone Crematorium. Fr Peter will preside. Let us keep Jenifer’s family and friends in our prayers. May she rest in peace.

Deacon Dom

Deacon Dom has returned to Croatia to undergo minor medical treatment. It will take a few weeks for him to recover and he should be back at St Mary’s early March. Let us keep him in our prayers.

St Mary’s Special Commemorative Calendars

Fr Peter writes: “I am going to do a “Lord Sugar” and reduce our wonderful calendars from £7:50 to £6 – all monies go towards the parish.”

Nursery and Primary School Application Forms:

Fr Peter writes: “If your child needs their Catholic Certificates of Practice” stamped and signed, please attend one of the Sunday Masses with your child, bringing their nursery or primary school application forms. Please make sure you have completed address and dates of birth before coming to see me.”

Cathedral Mass for the Sick – Our Lady of Lourdes Feast:

The annual Cathedral Mass with anointing of the sick takes place on Saturday 11th February at 2:30pm. If you would like to join Fr Peter and attend this special Mass please sign the list at the back of the church.

If you are a “flaming” young person...

Join Holly and Deacon Dom and come to “Flame”...

“Flame” is a Catholic youth mega event that takes place in one of England's iconic arenas in the shadow of Wembley Stadium. Taking place on Saturday, 4 March 2023 at the OVO Arena, Wembley, Flame is the largest Catholic gathering of young people in England and Wales. Flame is open to everyone aged school Year 9 (usually 14 years old) through to University age. If you would like to be part of this amazing event – just watch this space or contact Holly or Deacon Dom to find out more.

Calling all ex Our Lady of Lourdes School Families:

Fr Peter writes “OLOL is our parish school and while they have a statue of Our Lady on the outside of their main building, they do not have one inside. I have found a statue for £125 and will present it to the school on Friday at the 10am Mass. If you or your child attended OLOL and would like to donate towards the cost of the statue, either write a cheque to WRCDT – St Mary’s East Finchley or drop some cash through the presbytery letterbox in an envelope labelled OLOL statue. Many grateful thanks.”

Auschwitz and Us

The mass murder of about 6 million Jews in the Holocaust was an act of unparalleled evil that still haunts Western nations. Auschwitz, the biggest of the extermination camps, has become a symbol for the whole genocidal process. Could we have stopped it? On Sunday at 7 pm Fr Terry will give an illustrated talk in the hall on the question, Why did the Allies not bomb Auschwitz? After time for discussion we will conclude with prayers and readings taken from Holocaust Memorial Day.

Our Lady of Lourdes Feast Day Mass on Friday

This Friday, the 10am Mass will take place at the parish primary school: Our Lady of Lourdes in Bow Lane. You are all invited.

Prayer Intentions:

At the back of the church is a yellow clipboard for you to write down the names of people you would like placed on the altar during Mass. The clipboard will be brought up in the offertory procession.

Parents of children or young adults attending Sacramental Courses:

Fr Peter writes: “It is very important that parents of First Holy Communion Children and Confirmation candidates attend “parents’ evenings” organised by myself and Holly. We understand you might have a legitimate reason not to be present, but please let us know. A lot of time and effort goes into preparing parents evenings, and a “no show” means your children are at a slight disadvantage as they prepare.”
