Food Bank Response

Fr Terry says: Thank you for a wonderful response to the appeal for food donations last weekend. Many bags have already been handed in and I know that more will be coming this weekend. Schools and community groups have also been alerted and they too will be making food collections, so our work can continue to go forward.

Ahoy all you drivers in the car park

For the second time this year a driver reversed into the brick steps at the front of the church. They were damaged as the car mounted the steps (and then drove off). We will have to have them repaired. Until then, please take care walking up or down the steps and avoid the damaged area.

Visiting priest this Sunday

We welcome Fr Boguslaw Zero who is a Missionary of Africa (White Fathers) working at the moment in their Polish community in Lublin. Fr Boguslaw says: ‘I used to work in Uganda and Burundi. During my years of theology at the Missionary Institute London in Mill Hill (1994-1998), as a seminarian and a deacon I used to do my pastoral work in the parish of East Finchley. It would be an opportunity to greet some of my old friends.’

Inclusive Mass – Thank You!

Sandra Lipner writes: A great big thank you to all our volunteers who made last Sunday’s inclusive Mass and our get-together afterwards such a beautiful celebration. Thank you to everyone who read, prayed, sang, played an instrument, acted, made tea/coffee/hot dogs – it was wonderful.

Holy Hour Nazareth House

There is daily exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at Nazareth House, 6-7 pm, and parishioners are most welcome to come and share in the silence and prayerfulness.

Large Hall refurbishment

Fr Terry writes: The old wooden floor has been taken up and we are awaiting the wood to replace it.

Adoremus – National Eucharistic Congress

St Michael’s Catholic Grammar – Open Evening for Admissions 2019

This will be held on Thursday 28th June 2018 in two sessions – 3.30-5 pm and 7-9 pm. The Headteacher will address prospective parents at 5 pm, 7 pm and 9 pm. The Supplementary Information Forms are available to download from the School’s website, www.st-michaels.barnet.sch.uk and should be returned to St Michael’s no later than Tuesday 10th July 2018. You should arrange to make an appointment to have your forms completed by Father Terry prior to 10th July. World Youth Day

This is an international event with the Pope and Catholics from across the world. The next World Youth Day will be in Panama, Central America in January 2019. The Diocese Youth Ministry are organising a pilgrimage for young adults to attend. Scholarships for 50% are also available to support young adults wishing to go. Procession in Honour of Our Lady of Mount Carmel – Sunday 22nd July 2018

The Italian Procession and Sagra Committee writes: The tradition of the procession has been taking place for over 150 years. A walking group of First Holy Communicants will also be attending so if any of your Communicants wish to walk, please ask them to be inside the Italian Church (dressed in their Communion outfits) no later than 3 pm on that Sunday, 22nd July. The procession will start at 3.30 pm and will be followed by The Sagra – an Italian Street Fete with music and stalls selling Italian food, drink and lots more – all in a very Italian atmosphere!

The Passage – Annual Garden Party – 13th July 2018

Andrew Hollingsworth, The Passage writes: Please support the excellent work which the Passage does for homeless people in central London, by attending The Passage Annual Garden Party in the beautiful and historic College Garden, Westminster Abbey on Friday 13th July 2018, from 6 pm to 8.30 pm. Tickets at £45 each, include wine, soft drinks, buffet supper and live music (Salvation Army brass band). There will be a raffle and charity auction. St James’ Catholic High Open Evening – Wednesday 19th September 2018

Prospective parents and students are invited to view the school on Wednesday 19th September 2018 between 5.30 pm – 8 pm (final admission at 7.30 pm). There will be a talk by the Headteacher in the Hall at 6 pm and again at 7 pm. Parking on-site will be available. Open mornings will also take place by appointment during the week commencing Monday 8 October between 9.30 am and 10.30 am.
