The Parish Council:

The next parish council is on Sunday 7th July at 4pm in the presbytery.

Deacon Dom:

Fr Peter writes: “Deacon Dom will be ordained by Cardinal Vincent at Westminster Cathedral at 10:30am on Saturday 29th June.

You are all invited.

Dom will celebrate his very first Mass as a priest, at St Mary’s on Sunday 30th June at 11am.

You are all invited!

You have been very generous in giving money for Deacon Dom’s reception and gift. I would like to use half of that money for his reception and the remainder as his ordination gift. You have given £900. I will round that up to £1000.

I will use £500 to pay for all drinks and cutlery and some desserts. I would therefore be very grateful if you could sign up to bring some savoury dishes. The list will be at the back of the church this weekend.

Fr Peter needs a “Dom” Cake!

I am sure one of you is a skilled baker who can also ice a cake. It would be lovely if Fr Dom had a celebratory cake to cut after his first Mass next Sunday. If you can, please see me and I will give you the dough to buy the ingredients!

Altar Servers

So, would you like to be an Altar Server? Not only would you be helping Fr Peter but most importantly you would be serving the Risen Lord. What better service could you do? If you want to be an Altar Server and have made your First Holy Communion please get your parents to sign your name to the “sign up” sheet at the back of the church.

Readers

There will be a meeting for all readers (new & old) in St Mary’s Church on Thursday 11th July at 7:30pm.

Eucharistic Ministers

There will be a meeting for all Eucharistic Ministers  (new & old) in St Mary’s Church on Thursday 18thJuly at 7:30pm.

Confirmation Group 2024 Get Together!

The Chocolate Confirmation Reunion will be at 7:30pm on Thursday 4th July in the small hall. Bring something made of chocolate to share.

General Election

Local hustings for the Finchley & Golders Green Seat are so far at:

• Finchley Reform Synagogue and the Somalia Bravenese Community  - 7.30pm on Monday 24th June at the Somali Bravanese Welfare Association.

• Alyth Synagogue Hustings - 27th June, time to be confirmed

Fr Peter is also putting questions to candidates via email and you will find their answers on separate sheets only available from the church.

This week, Fr Peter asked candidates:

“Shortages and funding cuts are causing a “full blown crises” in special needs education for children and young people in England, according to school leaders who say they are struggling to give pupils the support they require (NB). How can you rectify this and where will funding come from?”

NB – This came as a result of a survey by NAHT and reported in the mainstream press on Saturday 4th May 2024.

Appeal for a Three Bedroom House to Rent

If anyone knows of a 3-bedroom house which is available to be rent, can you let Fr Peter know.
